The Case of the Missing Thinking Chair is the ninth episode of season four and the sixty-ninth episode overall in the reboot series Blue's Clues & You!. It is a new version of "The Scavenger Hunt".

Uh oh! The Thinking Chair is MISSING! This is a mystery so huge that Josh and Blue need to call in the Blueprints Detective Agency for Steve's help. Working together, will they be able to figure out this big mystery? We play Blue’s Clues to figure out where the Thinking Chair is.

This is the fourteenth reboot episode where The So Long Song isn't sung with the first thirteen being "Blue's Night Before Christmas", "Blue's Show and Tell Surprise", "It's Your Birthday!", "The Ghost of the Living Room", "A Blue's Clues Festival of Lights", "Building with Blue", "Rainbow Puppy's Skidoo Adventure", "Blue and Little Rainbow Riding Hood", "Feelin' Filipino", "The Legend of the Jack O'Lantern", "A Blue Christmas with You!", "Blue's Wish Comes True!" and "Magenta's Thank You Day Surprise". A magnifying glass was seen in the picture frame even though one was seen in What Experiment Does Blue Want to Try? and Science with Blue when Steve, Josh and Blue used magnifying glasses with Shovel and Pail and saw a ladybug, grass and Steve and Josh’s hands and then Steve and Josh used their magnifying glasses and saw nooks and crannies on a cork/bulletin board, threads on a curtain and the second clue on tape and Steve took out the magnifying glass instead of the notebook by mistake, but not Josh, and Mystery of the Missing Pies when Josh used his magnifying glass to look at some kitchen equipment and saw the first clue on grass.
Josh said, “big news,” even though the episodes were Blue's News and Big News with Blue when Blue had big news and it was the answer to Blue’s Clues and it was Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper having a baby when Blue left three clues on Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper, and a baby bottle and Steve and Josh both thought that Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper have a new bottle but that’s not big news and having a bottle is not big news at all and Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper had Paprika, Sage and Ginger and Cinnamon wasn’t here until The Baby's Here!.
This is the second Blue's Clues & You! episode in something that happened to the Thinking Chair. It got vanished even though the Thinking Chair never vanished or moved at all throughout the original Blue's Clues or the first 3 and 4 seasons of Blue's Clues & You!, except for what happened in The Wrong Shirt when Bob moved the Thinking Chair down since it was up.
This is also the seventeenth time where broccoli, tomatoes, oranges, corn, carrots, and mushrooms were seen. The others being A Snowy Day, Nurture! and Blue's First Holiday when carrots were drawn, What Is Blue Afraid Of? when Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper’s first picture was a graham cracker and thought it was bread at first and the third picture was of celery and thought it was broccoli, Magenta Comes Over and Playdate with Magenta when Mrs. Pepper used a carrot, peas, and broccoli for her race car because they were the shortest, smallest, and bumpiest and Mr. Salt had a mushroom for his race car because it was smoothest, Steve Gets the Sniffles and Getting Healthy with Blue when there were 3 strawberries, blueberries and cherries, and only 1 banana and it didn’t belong, and then there was a watermelon, broccoli, peas, and a carrot, which didn’t belong because it was orange, and then there was a pear, orange, watermelon and celery, which didn’t belong and Steve, Josh, Blue, Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper and Paprika sung Healthy Snacks, Blue's Big Holiday when Steve and Blue saw Tyrese and Purple Kangaroo celebrating Kwanzaa and they had a cup and corn with them, Café Blue when Steve, Blue and Mr. Salt went to the grocery store to get more ingredients for spaghetti sauce and mushrooms were in it, Let's Plant when a tomato plant was the answer to Blue’s Clues when Blue left three clues on the color red, round shapes and a vine, Shape Searchers when food with a can, carrot and banana were drawn, Look Carefully... when Joe played Gopher’s Mystery Box with Shovel, Pail and Gopher and there was a carrot under the box, and Magenta's Case of the Giggles when corn was seen.
This is the second time where a napkin was seen. The first time being Blue's Birthday when a napkin was missing.
This is the seventh time where a plate was seen. The others being Tickety's Favorite Nursery Rhyme when a plate was seen for Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper, to which they didn’t take, in their purple paper bag, The Lost Episode! when Blue made a paper plate Steve for Steve himself, Art Appreciation when a pie plate was drawn, Let's Boogie when a plate was drawn, Meet Polka Dots! when Periwinkle imagined Mr. Plate as different things, and Blue's Big Costume Parade when plates were seen but not used for Shovel and Pail’s firetruck.
Josh said he was gonna tell Blue like Steve did in Blue's Birthday when after finding the third clue on a shell, he went to tell Blue but at first but saw that Magenta had the picture of her and Blue from Magenta Comes Over and then Steve told Blue about finding all 3 clues, which were the color green, a tank and a shell, and Blue beamed and together, Blue, Magenta, Slippery Soap, Baby Bear, Gingerbread Boy, Tickety Tock, Shovel and Pail all said, “Thinking Chair,” together with The Viewer.
This is the fifth mystery episode. The first four being Blue's Big Mystery, Mystery of the Missing Pies, Blue's Mystery Present and Mailtime Mystery.
In The Scavenger Hunt, Joe, Blue and Magenta had a scavenger hunt list of things and there were 3 clues, a tape player, a tape cassette, 2 eggs, 4 paper holders, 10 chocolate chips, a red oval, a white squiggly line, and a red triangle and they put the tape cassette in the tape player and made music, helped Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper make cupcakes by finding the same number of eggs, paper holders, and chocolate chips and they were put together to make cupcakes, and then skidooed into the Felt Frame to get the red oval, white squiggly line, and red triangle and put them together to make a balloon, and a party was the answer to Blue’s Clues when Blue left three clues on music, cupcakes, and a balloon. But this time, the Thinking Chair has disappeared and there is a mystery going on and there is no scavenger hunt.
Josh’s Blue’s Clues sound effect sounded just like the ones in Seasons 1-6 of the original Blue’s Clues from What Does Blue Want to Make? to Bluestock.
The Pawprint was playing hide and seek like it did in Hide and Seek when Steve saw the Pawprint hiding in the top right corner and Hide and Seek with Blue when it fist bumped Josh like he does with Cinnamon.
This is the fifth episode where a house was a clue. The first four being Magenta Gets Glasses, Morning Music, and Getting Glasses with Magenta when Magenta’s House was a clue and Magenta's Messages when the Blue's Clues House was a clue.
- This is also the third episode where a house was the first clue with Magenta Gets Glasses and Getting Glasses with Magenta being the first two. However, in Magenta's Messages and Morning Music, it was the third clue.
- Besides being a clue in those episodes, it was the answer to Blue’s Clues in Adventures in Art when Blue left three clues on a door, a window, and a roof.
- Also Steve drew a house in Draw Along with Blue when Chalk Girl told Steve to draw a house and he drew a big square, a big triangle and a little standing-up rectangle separately at first.
- And Josh said, “don’t forget the knob,” like he did in Getting Glasses with Magenta when he drew Magenta's house.
- And in Snack Time, the orange, cheese, graham cracker, and grapes made a house and sun.

Josh sits in the Thinking Bench in the Mailtime segment even though Joe and Josh sat in the Thinking Bench in Soccer Practice, Blue's Big Neighborhood Adventure, and Knights of the Snack Table.
This is Steve’s fifth appearance in the reboot. The others being Meet Josh!, Blue's Night Before Christmas, Mailtime Mystery and Blue's Treasure of Clue Lagoon even though he appeared in pictures in What I Like About Blue and Sage & Ginger's Baby Book and on a planet in Into the Blueniverse!.
This is Joe's tenth appearance in the reboot. This marks the first time Josh and Blue ever visited the Blueprints Detective Agency, which was seen in Meet Josh! when Josh FaceTimed Steve, who works at the Blueprints Detective Agency, and Joe, who works at the Present Store instead of Cash Register, on how to play Blue’s Clues and they all sung Play Blue's Clues and The So Long Song and the Blueprints Detective Agency was seen in Mystery of the Missing Pies when Josh and Blue were looking for a pond with splashing and ducks and saw Gopher talking.
Josh and Blue are investigating like Steve and Blue did with Shovel and Pail in The Grow Show, but not in Growing with Blue because investigating with Shovel and Pail had been omitted and skipped, when they investigated inchworms to which one was longer and the curved one was and the puddle with the small stone had more water and the one with the big stone had less water and when the inchworms switched the stones the big stone was where the small one was and the puddle where the small stone was still had more water.
Steve called the Viewer a detective like he did in Blue's Big Mystery when Steve and Blue were solving a mystery of the “Mystery Builder”, who was none other than and first met and encountered Periwinkle.
Rack and Josh are talking about a pocket even though there were pockets in Blue's Big Holiday when Steve saw a pocket was sad because he wasn’t an animal but was given to Purple Kangaroo and Animals in Our House? when a pocket was drawn.
There is tape like the ones in What Experiment Does Blue Want to Try? and Science with Blue when the cyclone experiment was the answer to Blue’s Clues when Blue left three clues on water, tape and 2 plastic bottles and Steve and Josh thought Blue wanted to put the water in both plastic bottles and get the tape and tape them and put the tape all over them and tape them all up with the tape, Mechanics! when Steve and Blue taped a hole in a kite, and Joe's Surprise Party when wrapping Joe’s present was the answer to Blue’s Clues when Blue left three clues on tape, Joe’s present itself and wrapping paper.
There are keys even though in What's That Sound? when Steve heard Blue’s wind chime and Steve thought it was the keys, Blue's Big Treasure Hunt when Steve and Blue looked for a book and key to go to the Land of Great Discovery and the found the book next to Tickety Tock and the key in the kitchen and Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper, and Paprika had the key and Paprika would not give it away unless they solved a riddle from Mr. Salt, who sung, “If you want to receive the treasure hunt key, you first have to answer a riddle from me,” and the riddle was, “Kangaroo starts with the letter K”, “Eggs starts with the letter E,”, and, “Yo-yo starts with the letter Y,” and they spelled, “key,” and Paprika gave the key away and after filling in the space with the kitchen sticker in the treasure map, Mrs. Pepper had a picture of a bookcase where Steve and Blue put a book in a space, then the bookcase moved and showed a door to the Land of Great Discovery and used the key to unlock it, Adventure when Steve and Blue had riddles from Troll, Goblin and Dragon about worms, snakes, trees and the wind to find a key to save King Horace, and The Legend of the Blue Puppy when Joe and Blue first encountered Moona and Key.
Steve lost his notebook again like he did in The Lost Episode! and left it in the kitchen in the window by the flowers, which was the first clue, after seeing the second clue on grass and in Draw Along with Blue when Steve dropped his notebook and saw the first clue on the notebook.

Steve lost his crayon like he did in What Does Blue Want to Build? when after singing the Play Blue’s Clues song, Sidetable Drawer called out to Steve asked if he was forgetting something but Steve figured he wasn’t until he saw that he forgot his crayon but when he went to Sidetable Drawer, he took out a flashlight by mistake but it had the first clue and tried to draw it in the notebook with the flashlight until he got his crayon from Sidetable Drawer.
There are yellow papers like the ones in Steve, Joe, and Josh’s notebooks because throughout the Blue’s Clues franchise, the pages in the notebooks were always yellow and even though in Colors Everywhere! and Blue's Show and Tell Surprise when the color yellow was drawn.
Steve’s notebook and crayon are still the same from the original Blue’s Clues from Season 1-4 from Snack Time to Steve Goes to College and even in Blue's First Holiday: green and square shaped with the Thinking Chair on it, red spiral, and dark and light green striped.
This is the first episode since "Blue's First Holiday" where Steve's Handy Dandy Notebook appears, although Josh draws the clues in his notebook as usual. Also, Steve used his notebook in Seasons 1-4 of the original Blue’s Clues from Snack Time to Joe Gets a Clue and even though it was seen in Steve Goes to College, Steve only took out his notebook and didn’t draw in it because he decided to take it with him to college, and he had his notebook and used it one last time in Blue's First Holiday.
Steve, Josh, and Blue are splitting up like Scooby-Doo does when Fred, Daphne, and Velma go one way and Shaggy and Scooby-Doo go the other but Velma sometimes goes with Shaggy and Scooby and it’s similar to what happened in Blue's Big Mystery when Steve and Blue saw the footprints go 2 ways so they went straight at first and saw Gopher, who had the same footprints, but not the same tail because the tail that Steve and Blue saw was curvy and skinny and Gopher’s tail was short and stubby, and when Steve and Blue went the other way, they saw the tire swing move because the mystery builder rode in it, or bumped into it, or pushed it and saw Mr. Salt take a picture, which was the third clue, of the mystery builder’s head.
This is the third time where a ladder was seen. The first two being Playdates when a ladder was drawn and Blue's Wish Comes True! when Josh and Blue blew out candles on a cake to make a ladder to go over a wall.
This is the fifth episode where grass was a clue. The first four being The Lost Episode!, Nature, Blue's Big Neighborhood Adventure and Mystery of the Missing Pies.
- This is also the third episode where grass was the second clue with The Lost Episode! and Nature being the first. However, in Blue's Big Neighborhood Adventure and Mystery of the Missing Pies, it was the first clue.
Steve wore Groucho glasses like he and Mailbox did in What's So Funny? and they were quiet at first and laughed themselves silly.
Steve had an email for Josh like how Steve and Blue had a letter from Magenta in What Does Blue Want to Do with Her Picture? and Blue's Big Holiday and Josh had an email from Lola in Sleepy Singalong with Blue. Also Mailbox got a letter in Mailbox's Birthday, The Wrong Shirt, Blue's Big Costume Parade, and Mailtime Mystery, Blue got birthday cards in Blue's Birthday and Happy Birthday Blue, the Viewer got a birthday card in It's Your Birthday!, Magenta got an email in Blue's Backyard Sports Spectacular, and Periwinkle got an email in A Blue's Clues Festival of Lights from Grandpa Mauve.
The Mailtime song was sung in a mystery way like in Mailtime Mystery when Steve, Joe, and Rainbow Puppy sung an extended version of the Mailtime.

Orange Kitten had sunglasses even though Steve wore his sunglasses in What Does Blue Need? when Steve and Blue helped Starfish find the ocean and Blue Wants to Play a Song Game when Steve and Blue skidooed to the beach to dance to the rhythm of rain with Crabs, wind with Octopi and waves with Herons and saw the third clue on a spider.
There were 3 orange kittens to choose from like in The Fairy Tale Ball when Prince Charming had 3 girls to find out which of them was Cinderella and the third girl on the right was Cinderella herself same with Orange Kitten on the right.
Orange Kitten and Purple Kangaroo had info about the third clue being something tall and brown and it was on a tree and it’s similar to what happened in both Blue's News and Big News with Blue when Tickety Tock, Shovel, Pail, Mailbox and Sudsy had riddles for Steve and Josh about finding the clues and Tickety Tock said, “The first clue is in the room where you find a spoon,” and it was in the kitchen on Mr. Salt, then Shovel and Pail, who went on a treasure hunt with Steve, Josh, and Blue to the birdhouse, which was omitted from the remake, and Mailbox, who Shovel and Pail said, “The next clue is on something that makes you sneeze and it’s used in lots of recipes,” and it was Mrs. Pepper and the second clue was on Mrs. Pepper, then Slippery Soap had a message for Sudsy in the chalkboard, which was, “Hi. I miss you. Love, Slippery,” and Sudsy had a riddle for the third clue and said, “The third clue holds a drink and it was closer than you think,” and it was on a bottle and the answer to Blue’s Clues was Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper having a baby when Blue left three clues on Mr. Salt himself, Mrs. Pepper herself, and a bottle and Steve and Josh thought Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper have a new bottle and Blue's Surprise at Two O'Clock when after Steve and Blue played the Race Against Time with Grandfather Clock, who made pictures of a refrigerator, sink, Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper and Paprika, Grandfather Clock told Steve and Blue to put the pictures together to find the third clue, which was in the kitchen on an ice cube tray.

There are kittens and kangaroos even though Periwinkle was the answer to Blue’s Clues in Blue's Big Mystery and The Ghost of the Living Room when Blue left three clues on footprints, tails, a picture, 4 little prints and triangles, Blue's Predictions when Periwinkle was drawn, Animal Behavior! when Steve saw Sidetable Drawer being a kangaroo, Animals in Our House? when a kangaroo was the answer to Blue’s Clues when Blue left three clues on a tail, a hopping motion and a pocket and Shy when Steve and Blue saw Green Kangaroo.
The Bakery, music shop and magic shop are seen again like they were in What Does Blue Want to Make?, What Does Blue Want to Do with Her Picture?, Geography, Blue's Big Neighborhood Adventure and Our New Neighbor.
This is the sixth episode where a tree was a clue. The first five being The Lost Episode!, What Did Blue See?, Blue's Rainy Day Rainbow, Blue's Big Neighborhood Adventure, and Building with Blue.
- This is also the third episode where a tree was the third clue with The Lost Episode! and Building with Blue being the first two. However in What Did Blue See? and Blue's Big Neighborhood Adventure, it was the second clue.

The others being The Grow Show and Growing with Blue when planting a garden was the answer to Blue’s Clues when Blue left three clues on dirt, a watering can, and seeds and when Steve and Josh thought Blue wanted to put the seeds and the dirt in the watering can and mix it all up, The Lost Episode!, What Did Blue See?, Nature, Blue's Play, Blue's Rainy Day Rainbow, Blue's Big Neighborhood Adventure, Mystery of the Missing Pies and Building with Blue when flowers, grass, and trees were drawn, Thankful, Thankful with Blue and Blue's Dino Clues when leaves and plants were drawn, Environments when a cactus was drawn, and Let's Plant when a tomato plant was the answer to Blue’s Clues when Blue left three clues on the color red, round shapes and a vine.
Steve said, “You know what you/we need,” and, “you know what that means, you’re/we’re ready for your/our,” and, “let’s think,” like he, Joe, and Josh did in since Snack Time to Joe Gets a Clue, Steve Goes to College to Bluestock and Meet Josh! to present.
Steve stole Josh’s line and said, “so a tree,” like Joe did when he and Steve sung the Play Blue’s Clues song in Joe Gets a Clue and Steve Goes to College and Steve and Joe even sung, “We can do anything that we want to do,” together and Steve said, “so a tree,” like he did in The Lost Episode! and What Did Blue See? and Steve is watching Josh draw the tree like Miranda did in Magenta Gets Glasses when she watched Steve draw Blue, who was the third clue, and Joe Gets a Clue when Joe watched Steve draw the first and second clue, which was paper and a crayon, and Steve watched Joe draw the third clue, which was a spiral.
The second and third clue, which were grass and a tree, is being drawn together in a skidoo location like in Joe Gets a Clue when the second and third clue, which were a crayon and spiral, were drawn together in a skidoo location too.
Steve is skidooing and said, “let’s think,” like he used to in the original Blue’s Clues from Seasons 1-4 from Snack Time to Steve Goes to College except for Magenta Gets Glasses because there was no skidoo location. Also Steve is skidooing with Josh like Periwinkle, Shovel, Mr. Salt and Joe did with Steve in Periwinkle Misses His Friend, Blue's Collection, Café Blue and Joe Gets a Clue, Joe skidooed with Periwinkle, Tickety Tock, Magenta and Sidetable Drawer in The Big Book About Us, Numbers Everywhere!, The Scavenger Hunt and The Fairy Tale Ball and Periwinkle, Magenta, Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper and Rainbow Puppy skidooed with Josh in Our New Neighbor, Blue's Mystery Present, Building with Blue, Rainbow Puppy's Skidoo Adventure, Blue's Treasure of Clue Lagoon, Blue and Little Rainbow Riding Hood and Knights of the Snack Table. And Steve has got green swirls when he and Josh skidooed due to green being Steve’s favorite color and Josh still had blue swirls due to blue being his favorite color and if Joe were there, he would’ve had purple swirls due to him having a purple shirt since Seasons 5 and 6 of the original Blue’s Clues he kept changing his shirts.
Steve is thinking with Josh like Miranda and Joe did with Steve in Magenta Gets Glasses and Joe Gets a Clue.
Steve said the third clue like Blue did in Adventures in Art after Steve said the first and second was a door and window and forgot what the third clue was and Blue said it was a roof.
Steve gave out a wrong answer with Josh like he did in the whole first season of the original Blue’s Clues from Snack Time to Blue's News and in the second season of the original Blue’s Clues from Steve Gets the Sniffles to What Experiment Does Blue Want to Try? and What Was Blue's Dream About? to Math!, and even though he stopped giving out wrong answers, Steve did do wrong answers 2 more times in the third and fourth season of the original Blue’s Clues, which were Blue's Big Costume Party and Blocks, and throughout the rest of seasons 2, 3, and 4 of the original Blue’s Clues from What Does Blue Want to Make Out of Recycled Things?, Blue's Birthday to What's So Funny?, Inventions to What's Inside?, Blue's Backyard Ballgame Bonanza to Joe Gets a Clue, it was Steve’s first wrong answer ever since, but Steve stopped giving out wrong answers in the original Blue’s Clues. Joe never gave out wrong answers at all throughout the fifth and sixth seasons of the original Blue’s Clues from Steve Goes to College to Bluestock. Also Steve already drew the clues, which were over, water, and a cliff, in Blue's Treasure of Clue Lagoon when he did the Mapbook’s voice.

Steve wasn’t singing We Just Figured Out Blue's Clues but he did do the smart pose even though he sung it with Josh and Joe with Joe Gets a Clue and Meet Josh! and with Miranda in Magenta Gets Glasses.

Lemonade is seen again like it was in Math! and 123's with Blue when it was the answer to Blue’s Clues when Blue left three clues on ice cubes, a cup and lemons.
Also Steve, Joe, Josh and Blue are eating outside like Steve and Blue did in Signs when the picnic table was the answer to Blue’s Clues when Blue left three clues on a green light, a door with an arrow and a table.
