The Recycle Bins are living recycle bins that are used for (what else?) recycling! Each bin is named after what type of trash they recycle: Paper recycles paper, Plastic recycles plastic, and Metal recycles metal.
Each bin is blue with a pair of white eyes with black pupils and a white symbol, but they have their differences: Paper has square eyes and a paper stack symbol, Plastic has round eyes and a plastic bottle symbol, and Metal has rectangular eyes and a metal can symbol.
A different recycle bin (possibly Plastic) appeared in "Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper Day". It had Metal's eyes and a recycle symbol.
All three bins were featured in "What Does Blue Want to Make Out of Recycled Things?". After Steve wrote down the 1st clue (a paper towel roll) and thinks that they should find two more clues, the recycle bins were heard offscreen saying "Recycle, recycle, recycle.". Steve then asked the viewers if they said something before wondering who that's was. When he walked back over to the counter where he put the trash bin, the recycle bins popped out from the cabinets below and announced that's it's recycle day. After introducing themselves and saying what they recycl, they ask Steve if he’s ready to recycle.
A different recycle bin appeared in "Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper Day".
Non-sentient recycle bins appeared in some episodes (for example, Paper was seen in "Blue's Collection" (plus an appearance on the call reminder on the bulletin board) and "Signs" with Metal, Plastic was seen in "Blue's Surprise at Two O'Clock!", Metal was seen in "Nurture!", "Weight and Balance", and "Signs" with Paper, and all 3 were seen in "Stormy Weather" and "Animals in Our House?").
"Recycle, recycle, recycle."
"It's recycle day! Recycle, recycle, instead of just throwing away."
"Ready to recycle?"
- Out of all the recycle bins in "What Does Blue Want to Make Out of Recycled Things?", Plastic was the only one that was given 1 recyclable piece of trash: an empty juice bottle. Metal was given an empty soup can and aluminum foil, and Paper was given a milk carton and some paper trash that Mailbox planned to throw away.
- Unless you count the recycle bin from "Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper Day" (which was given an empty milk jug) as Plastic, each recycle bin was given 2 recyclable pieces of trash total.
- Some of the recycle bins appeared on the call reminder on the bulletin board; Paper appeared on the one in "Blue's Collection", and a completely different recycle bin with glasses as its symbol (possibly Glass) appeared in "What's New, Blue?".
