Recap

Josh and Blue invite the viewers into the house. Then, Josh's Handy Dandy Notebook/Phone rings. Josh answers his phone, and it is Magenta on the other line, wanting to talk to Blue. Magenta says that she is coming over to Josh and Blue's house later on. Afterwards, Josh hangs up and then he and Blue cheer and dance while chanting "Magenta's coming over!" all the way through the Living Room. Josh and Blue had to get ready and figure out what they can do when Magenta comes over. Blue leaves a paw print on the screen. Then Josh says we could play another game of "Blue's Clues" to figure out what they can do when Magenta comes over. Then, Josh clears up the paw print needed to get his Notebook, and then, after the song plays, we start the game and we even find out what else we have in mind too.

Trivia

  • This is the first episode to be directed by the original Blue's Clues host Steve Burns.
  • Josh's ringtone is the Blue's Clues & You! theme song made to sound more like a cordless phone ringing.
  • Mr. Salt mentions that he was once a Blue's Clue, a reference to "Blue's News."
    • Ironically, he will be again in the remake of the said episode which is also the next episode: "Big News with Blue."
  • This is the second episode that does not end with the phrase "...with Blue," after "Meet Josh!".
  • It was revealed that Josh likes to smile all the time.
  • This is the first time in the reboot where Blue bounces on the screen.
  • Josh is a clue for the first time.
  • This is first episode Josh's Handy Dandy Phone to take picture with Blue and Magenta in later episode in Science with Blue.

Differences

  • Josh does not interact with Sidetable Drawer because he had his notebook/phone with him.
  • The scene where Shovel and Pail play hide-and-seek takes place at the same time as the skidoo segment.
    • In the original, Shovel and Pail playing hide-and-seek took place after Steve found the first clue, but in the remake, it took place after Josh found the second clue.
      • The place where Shovel and Pail play hide-and-seek and the skidoo location take place at the playground in the living room picture instead of the backyard and the red felt frame.
        • The felt friends only make a cameo appearance on the red felt frame at the beginning of the episode.
  • The scene with the Felt Friends picking out their costumes was cut, but this scene was remade in the play-along app version on Noggin.
  • In the original, the picture was taken near the Felt Frame. In this version, it is taken on the couch.
    • When they first appeared in the original episode, they followed their footprints around the bush and bumped into each other. When they first appeared in this episode, they simply came around from behind the bush.
    • The footprints for the rabbit and snake were replaced respectively by the ones for a raccoon and frog.
    • None of the other animals that made the other footprints appeared in this episode.
    • Duck appeared as a duckling while in the original he resembled an adult mallard. He also only peeps instead of talking.
    • Snail came from between the rock to the bush instead of hiding among the flowers in the garden. She also interacts with Shovel and Pail.
  • In the original episode, after Blue and Steve skidoo out of the felt frame, it was Mailtime. Steve starts walking as he sings the Mailtime song, then joins Blue by the window to yell out "Mail!".
    • In the reboot, after Blue and Josh skidoo out of the picture frame, they leave the living room, but then Mailtime was announced. They come back to the living room and do the Mailtime song.
  • Josh told Mailbox that he was a clue which didn't happen in the original.
  • Mailbox only delivers once, but in the original episode he delivered twice (the first time for the letter, and the second for the third clue)
  • The video letter features a song rather than a greeting from a kid.
  • The third and final clue is Josh's phone, which he uses to take a picture. In the original episode, Steve used a camera that Mailbox delivered.
    • However, his notebook/phone does not have visible camera lenses, so it is unknown how he was able to take the picture at the end.
  • Magenta joins in The So Long Song along with Blue and Josh.
