Magenta's Thank You Day Surprise is the fourth episode of season four and the sixty-fourth episode overall in the reboot series Blue's Clues & You!. It is a new version of Shy.

Summary[]

On the first annual Storybook World Thank You Day, Magenta's picture of what she's most thankful for gets ruined. This can only mean playing an extra special game of Magenta's Clues to figure out what she's thankful for!

Plot[]

Magenta and Miranda arrive to show their own drawings, but Magenta's drawing gets blown in the wind and lands in a puddle. Miranda goes to get paper and crayons for Magenta to draw a new one while Josh asks Magenta what she's thankful for. Then it’s time to play Magenta's clues where Magenta uses her pawprint instead of Blue's. The first clue is a heart. Josh and Blue walk into the kitchen to see Paprika and Cinnamon are doing a cooking show called "Add it In" and are preparing a spicy rice dish for their Grandma Cayenne but need something crunchy, fruity, and spicy. They chose pumpkin seeds, pineapple, and hot peppers. Grandma Cayenne appears and the kids present her their dish as a way to say thank you to her. She takes a bite and loves it. Afterwards, we find the second clue which is polka dots. Then, we have mail time where Mailbox gives Josh a letter of a little girl drawing a Thank You Day drawing of her and her mom. They meet Miranda outside who shows that she's thankful for Thank You Day and hangs her drawing. Then it’s time skidoo into Miranda's drawing and she explains the reason she is thankful for Thank You Daya and it's because that's the day where she met Magenta after her family moved into the neighborhood when she was little. The trio the skidoos back into the backyard where they find the third clue which is a soccer ball, which Miranda explained was the ball she played as a kid. Then Josh uses the thinking chair and figure out that Magenta is thankful for Miranda. Then everyone comes back to the backyard where everything is ready for the Thank You Day feast and Miranda gives Magenta the paper and crayons she uses to draw Miranda. Trivia[]

  • This episode marks Miranda's first appearance since "Magenta Gets Glasses" in the original series.
    • Although Shannon Walker Williams didn't reprise her role as Miranda, Adriana Vasquez was chosen to take over the role instead.
  • It also marks the reboot debut of Grandma Cayenne since the original Blue's Clues episode, "The Baby's Here!".
  • The working title for this episode is Thank You Day.
  • This is the 1st official time that Magenta's Clues is played.
  • The layered heart picture in the living room frame resembles the background at the end of each episode of the original version of The Powerpuff Girls.
  • In "Shy", Blue was shy that Miranda was coming back and that Miranda was the answer to Blue’s Clues when Blue left three clues on a bag, a footprint, and a video tape (VHS), and Blue wasn’t shy of Miranda anymore because Magenta arrived as well but this time Blue wasn’t shy of Miranda anymore after the original Blue's Clues series ended.
  • It was rumored that ICarly actor Miranda Cosgrove was going to play Miranda.
  • Also in Shy, Turquoise was shy when The Viewer said, “hi,” to her and they got too close but wasn’t anymore when Steve told Turquoise that she remembers the Viewer at Blue’s Birthday party from "Blue's Birthday" and "Happy Birthday Blue". Plus Steve introduced the Pawprint to the Viewer even though it wasn’t shy, Sidetable Drawer was worried about Blue being shy but explained that she gets shy too. Then Shovel wanted to play with Pail and Sifter but felt shy and Steve decided to use clay people as Shovel and Sifter and then Steve gave Shovel 2 options, which were Shovel hiding behind the bush and watch Sifter play or go over to him and introduce himself and they say, “Hi. I’m Shovel. Hey. I’m Sifter,” and Shovel should introduce himself to Sifter and he did but didn’t know what else to do. So Shovel’s other options were he could play separately or try to find something that he and Sifter have in common and he asked Steve what he liked and he liked drawing and playing with blocks and so did Shovel (playing blocks and played that) and he should find a game that he and Sifter both like and Sifter liked jump rope, sand, and ball, and to Shovel’s surprise, he liked playing in the sand too like Sifter, who played in the sand along with Pail. Mailbox found out that Blue was shy and she’s never shy of him in a long time but Blue used to be shy when she first met Mailbox offscreen in Blue's First Holiday and Mailbox remembered that. Then Steve and Blue skidooed into a picture of Blue’s School and saw characters, who were shy like Duck, who was shy to get into school, and his options were staying in the hall or go inside and play something he likes and the Viewer suggested that Duck should go inside and he did and liked finger painting and Purple Kangaroo joined in. Then Steve and Blue saw Orange Kitten being shy as well and she saw Green Kitten and Giraffe playing dress up and wanted to play dress up too but was too shy and her options were go over and ask if she can play dress up too and see what happens or sit and wait for Green Kitten and Giraffe to ask Orange Kitten and the Viewer suggested that she should go ask to play and she did. Green Kitten and Giraffe were playing restaurant and Orange Kitten was the customer. Then when it was time for Show and Tell, Steve and Blue saw Green Kangaroo, who wanted to tell everyone about his pet rock for Show and Tell but explained that he was nervous and didn’t know what to say and was shy and his options were Green Kangaroo practicing what he’s gonna say with Steve and Blue or not take his turn and the Viewer suggested that he should practice and he started by saying that he found his pet rock in the backyard and put eyes and a mouth and became his pet. So Green Kangaroo spoke to everyone for real about his pet rock and like he did with Steve and Blue and everyone liked it and wasn’t nervous anymore. And then Shovel and Duck arrived and told Blue to find something she had in common with Miranda like with Sifter, who was introduced to Duck. Then as Miranda arrived, she saw Blue, who was still shy and what they had in common was that they have Magenta in common. And when the video tape was started, it showed Miranda and Magenta at the beach and then Magenta coming to Blue’s Birthday party in Blue's Birthday and Happy Birthday Blue, then the Costume Party from Blue's Big Costume Party and Spooky Costume Party with Blue where Blue and Magenta were a fish and mouse, which was the answer to Blue’s Clues (a mouse costume), when Blue left three clues on prints, whiskers, and a squeak sound, and Steve and Josh were aliens, Sidetable Drawer was a ghost, Mailbox wasn’t anything in the original, but in the remake, he was a letter, Slippery Soap was an octopus, and Boo was a bag of leaves, then the pool party from Pool Party when Steve and Blue invited Sidetable Drawer, Tickety Tock, Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper, Paprika, Slippery Soap, Mailbox, Joker, Shovel, Pail and Magenta, who was the answer to Blue’s Clues when Blue left three clues on Blue’s School, a puppy and a purplish-pinkish color, but this time, Blue is not shy of Miranda anymore.
  • Josh is asking what Blue is thankful for like he and Steve did in both Thankful and Thankful with Blue when they made a thankful book for what everyone was thankful for such as Steve and Josh being thankful for their friends, their green/blue-striped shirts and Blue, Tickety Tock was thankful for numbers, which was omitted from the remake, Sidetable Drawer was thankful for the notebook, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper were thankful for Paprika, Cinnamon, Sage and Ginger, Paprika was thankful for her parents in the original, and her graham cracker phone in the remake, Cinnamon was thankful for his hat, Shovel was thankful for sand, Pail was thankful for the sun, which were both omitted from the remake, Mailbox was thankful for stamps, the Felt Friends were thankful for sharing, and Blue was thankful for the season of Fall/Autumn, which was the answer to Blue’s Clues (Fall/Autumn), when Blue left three clues on an apple, a leaf, and a pumpkin, but this time, she’s thankful for singing songs with Josh, which is what he was thankful for too.
    • Josh asked the Viewer what they were thankful for like he and Steve did in Thankful and Thankful with Blue and there was no reply.
  • Josh and Blue made their drawings on a star and cloud even though in Pretend Time, Blue's Collection, Meet Polka Dots!, Sleepy Singalong with Blue, Spring is Here!, and Blue's Anywhere Box Surprise when stars were drawn, Blue's ABCs when Steve and Blue read Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Sleepy Singalong with Blue when Josh singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star when Blue left three clues on a star, Josh’s guitar, and Josh himself and What's That Sound?, Stormy Weather and Blue's Book Nook when clouds were drawn, and Blue Wants to Play a Song Game when a rain cloud was drawn.

Ring. Ring. Ring,”.
  • Mr. Salt was thankful for the whole spice family like how he and Mrs. Pepper were in Thankful with Blue even though in Thankful, it was just Paprika due to Cinnamon, Sage and Ginger not being born yet.
  • Mrs. Pepper was thankful for nap time like how it was the answer to Blue’s Clues in What Time Is It for Blue? when Blue left three clues on a blanket, a book and a pillow.
  • Josh asked Magenta what she’s thankful for even though he and Steve never did in Thankful and Thankful with Blue because Magenta wasn’t there.
  • This is the third time where butter was seen. The first two being Weight and Balance when Steve helped Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper and Paprika weigh groceries and third ones were butter and a roll and the butter weighed more and Thankful when butter was with applesauce and cranberry sauce.

  • Josh and Blue are helping Paprika and Cinnamon find ingredients for the special spicy rice like in "What Does Blue Want to Make?" when Steve and Blue did the same thing for Bowl and Spatula at the bakery.
  • Josh handed his notebook phone/camera to the Viewer like he and Steve did in both "Magenta Comes Over" and "Playdate with Magenta" when they handed their phone/camera to the Viewer to take a picture of Blue, Magenta, Shovel, Pail, Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper, and the Felt Friends, who were omitted from the remake.

  • Miranda is having a wrong answer even though in Shy, she didn’t have a wrong answer, in which because after the original Blue’s Clues episode Math!, it was the last episode to feature a wrong answer, and she was the answer to Blue’s Clues in Shy when Blue left three clues on a bag, a footprint and a video tape (VHS).
