Summary[]

Steve and Blue start a collection of their own things.

Recap[]

Collections are the order of the day. Steve invites us in to see Blue's collection of circles. It turns out that she got the idea from her circular shaped spots. She has all sorts of different things that are either circular or covered with circular spots. Steve has a collection too. His collection is filled with things that are striped. It came from his wearing striped shirts, which came from his grandma, who gave him his first-ever striped shirt.

We come across Periwinkle, who it turns out has several collections. Using associations, we help Periwinkle to restore things that are missing from his collection of things that roll, things that remind him of the city and magical things. Later, we're called by Shovel and Pail. Pail has a great collection of leaves, including a very big brand-new one, but Shovel can't find any seashells in the backyard and that's a problem if you're trying to collect seashells. So, we skidoo into a beach and there we're able to find a giant oyster shell, a conch shell, and a clamshell.

Trivia[]

Periwinkle appeared in this episode, and his voice actor Cameron Bowen is one of Steve's Friends, as well as Anna Sherman Weiss, relative of future Vice President of Production for Nick Jr., Teri Weiss.
This was the only time Shovel skidoos.
Mailbox, Sidetable Drawer, Mr. Salt, Gopher, and Pail does not appear in the episode, because is busy.
The term "Clue collector" was previously used in Blue's ABCs.
When Steve says "Blue! Your ball!", his voice from Season One's Snack Time is used.
Gopher gets rid of the pawprint in this episode, which shows that he has a pawprint collection.
- This sparked a fan theory stating that Gopher takes a picture of each clue and swipes its pawprint away.
When Shovel puts the clamshell in the box, you can hear the sound effect of Mailbox opening himself up.
This is the first episode where a blue crayon is used for drawing a clue. Although in Nature, Steve used a sky blue crayon for the third clue (the sky).
The music for the closing credits is a remix of the opening theme song.
This is the first episode to feature a jumping clue, followed by Dress Up Day and Animals in Our House?. However, the jumping clue in this episode is referred to as bouncing, while in the other two episodes, the jumping clue is referred to hopping.
This episode reveals why Steve always reaches under the thinking chair to put the letter there.
- He has a letter collection and the box has a yellow slot that is always facing forward so that Steve can put the later through and into his collection its also the first time that he does this with the box onscreen.
Mr. Salt appears by himself and without Mrs. Pepper, but he doesn't appear again with her in the credits.
The cards that were placed in Periwinkle's collection of magical items (including an Ace of Swirls) previously appeared in "Pool Party". The only difference is that both sides of each card in this episode are all purple (in the previous episode the backs of all cards are light blue, and the Ace of Swirls is red).
The palm tree on the beach is the same one from "Blue Wants to Play a Song Game"
When Steve gets out his letter collection, he pulls out the letters from "Environments", "What Does Blue Want to Build?" and "What Does Blue Want to Do on a Rainy Day?"
Before the We Just Got a Letter song, Steve does not say, "We just got a letter.". Instead, he says, "We just got another letter!". This is the only time this happens.
In the UK version, when Kevin gets out his letter collection, he pulls out the letter from "Environments" and "Kevin Gets the Sniffles"

At the end of the episode, Shovel says the host's name in an accent like Sean Connery after Steve says "Seashells by the seashore" in bad grammar by semi-scolding it. After that, Steve apologizes incorrectly.
When Steve helps Shovel collect seashells by the seashore, it means that it's a Sean Connery day for him.
After Steve says, "Bye-bye. See you later!" in bad grammar, he corrects it by saying, "See you later. Bye!" in his normal accent, which was absolutely perfect.

Goofs[]

In the US version of the opening, the ball was present. But in the UK version, the ball was not present.
When the viewer said a clue the first time in the second clue, he probably didn't really say a clue.
- On top of that, he might have said a glue instead.
In the UK version, after Kevin draws the third clue, he ends up in a different area in the backyard, as the picnic table is nowhere to be seen and a second tree appears behind him.
At the end of the episode, the ball belongs to Periwinkle and the photograph belongs to Blue, but Steve helped them trade their stuff back to normal.
