As he auditioned for the role as the host, after Steve's departure, he had no idea what "Blue's Clues" was, not even watched the show. Because of the title, he believed that the show had to do with rhythm and blues and he imagined Blue as a dog with a soul patch and a saxophone. It was revealed in the Blues Clues epilogue, even showing his auditioning tape and asking Steve himself "What's Blue's Clues?".
