+ | The text explains that at the end of every episode of Blue's Clues, there is a specific music that plays. This music is mainly composed of bass and clapping. In the first five seasons, it was usually played alongside another tune from that episode, specifically the opening music from the first four seasons. However, in season 6, it changed to The Goodbye Song, and in Blue's Clues & You!, it is either the instrumental version of the show's theme song or other songs at the end of the credits. |

==Concept of the characters== |
||
− | + | Blue appears during the end credits of Season 1, waves goodbye during the end credits of "Created By", stands on her head and blinks during the end credits of "Animators", wags her tail during the end credits of "Animators", and looks over in the upper right angle during the credits page of "Steve's Friends" and at the very end, she was seen chasing her ball before the book closed. |
|
− | + | Blue originally only appeared alone in Season 1, but starting in Season 2, Tickety Tock appears and rings during the credits page of "Animators", then Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper dance as a couple, similar to "Healthy Snacks", by "Steve Gets the Sniffles" during the credits page of "Editor", then Tickety Tock appears again and stomps her feet, similar to "If You're Happy and You Know It" by Blue Wants to Play a Song Game, during “Steve’s Friends” Tickety Tock is never reflected on the Steve's Friends credit page. And Blue's final two actions (wagging his tail and looking over) were removed (although they returned at the start of season three before disappearing entirely in Hide and Seek). |
|
+ | Starting in Season 3, the characters can randomly appear anywhere in the credits (originally it was the other way around for Blue's first two actions), although her upside down and flashing animation was moved closer to the beginning of the credits, and her farewell barking and waving animation was moved from the middle of the third Season placed at the very end of the credits (with the exception of Shy). If another character appears first (a squirrel from Draw Along with Blue, Cursor from Anatomy, Periwinkle from Let's Boogie, Plum from Periwinkle Misses His Friend, Baby Bird from Up, Down, All Around!, and Tickety Tock from Story Wall), then Blue's upside down and flashing animation is moved later in the credits sequence, except for Body Language. At the beginning of the third season, Tickety Tock is given a third act where she moves her hands to the music, similar to how she hums "If You're Happy and You Know It" from "Blue Wants to Play a Song Game". Additionally, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper are the first characters to appear in their mirrored reflection. |
||
− | Starting with season 3, even more characters started appearing, like [[Mailbox]], [[Shovel]], [[Pail]], [[Slippery]], [[Periwinkle]], and more. |
||
+ | Starting in the middle of the third season, Mailbox, Shovel and Pail were added to the credits, in Blue's Big Mystery, Periwinkle is also added, but only performs a one-time action by sneaking around, Periwinkle was not in the credits again until Blue's predictions with his wand, but the wand was removed at Our Neighborhood Festival. Shovel would also appear alone and without Pail. Until Blue's New Place appears, when Shovel spawns alone, he will not spawn with Pail again. In Stormy Weather, Blue gets a new action where she jumps to the middle of the screen to check the credit pages, looks up, barks, and runs away happily. |
||
− | From home video releases between 1998-2001 (which featured special credits for each tape program, rather than using the TV credits for each individual episode), the credits only featured Blue, Tickety Tock, Mr. Salt, and Mrs. Pepper. |

+ | In Season 4, starting with "The Baby's Here!", all of David B. Levy's team's end credits animation uses a common pattern. Normally, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper appear mirrored and dancing on the "Executive Producer & Design Director" credit page, then Tickety Tock appears doing everything but ringing her bells during the "Research & Development Managers" credit page, then Shovel and Pail normally appear and dance during the credits page of "Animators", and then Mailbox appears mirrored and waves his flag during the credits page of "Studio Crew". There were some exceptions, such as in The Anything Box, where Tickety appears first, before Mr. Salt & Mrs. Pepper, then Blue comes back. When Dale Clowdis' team animates, Shovel, Pail, and Mailbox usually take opposite sides and appear randomly at any point in the credits. |

+ | In Season 5, the animation of Blue running across the screen is used permanently, having made two previews in Stormy Weather and The Anything Box. Whenever it is used, it always appears after Blue's upside down and flashing animation. Otherwise it comes first. "Slippery Soap" is permanently added to the end credits after a taste of "Joe Gets a Clue." He has two actions. In one of them, he slips over to check the credit pages, then gives a thumbs up and disappears. In another, he turns and waves goodbye, then jumps and slips away, although this action was not used as often and is never mirrored. In the middle of the fifth season, Periwinkle arrives, bowing similarly to Blue's Big Musical Movie. Sometimes when he does this the crowd cheers him on. He first appeared with his wand in Blue's Predictions before the wand was removed in the next episode. Our neighborhood festival, Periwinkle will never be mirrored. Whenever David B. Levy's team animates, not as many characters appear in the credits as in Dale Clowdis' animated episodes, with the exception of Story Wall. Additionally, David created a brand new animation for Mailbox where instead of flipping his flag when he stops, he does so when he moves away after waving the flag goodbye. Until "Blue Takes You To School", Dale was still using the first animation from "Mailbox". Unlike Tickety Tock, Slippery Soap and Moona, both of Mailbox's animations were mirrored. |

||
+ | In Season 6, Moona was added to the end credits to correspond with a new section called Blue's Room. David B. Levy and Dale Clowdis created various animations of Moona. In the David B. Levy version, Moona shook her wand and in the Dale Clowdis version, Moona waved goodbye while flying in circles. Only David B. Levy's version was mirrored. Dale Clowdis also created Key, which spun like a real key and was intended to be added to the end credits of his episodes. Blue's upside down and blinking animation is slightly different in Dale Clowdis' episodes, with the exception of "Blue's Wishes", where she is symmetrically upside down and disappears by wiggling her ears. Dale Clowdis also created another animation of Blue waving and barking goodbye, peeking out from underneath, which was also intended to be added to the end credits of his episodes. And he also created the Sidetable Drawer, which checks the credit pages and laughs. She also only appears in the credits of Dale Clowdis' episodes. |

+ | *There are differences in the ball, [[Blue]], and the book closing for the [[Steve]] version vs. the [[Joe]] version. In seasons 1-4, the ball bounces 3 times without rotating. When [[Blue]] catches up, she winks at the viewers, and as she throws the ball and ran away, the book closes. |
||
+ | **In the Season 5 version, the ball rotates and [[Blue]] blinks twice and then barks, saying "Bye!". It then zooms out and when the ball gets thrown away, the book closes in the same direction from seasons 1-4, leaving magic sparkles. The sound of the sparkles mutes out and the lettering of the show is missing in the UK version. The book is on the ground right by a little snail plush to the right of it. However, it is unknown how the book gets put back for the next episode. [[Blue]] opens it in the beginning, but [[Blue]] is still in the book when it closes. It's unknown how [[Blue]] got out of the book for the next theme song after it closed. However, the book opens by itself in the [[Steve]] version. |
||
+ | ***In Season 6, the ball and [[Blue]] still come in and [[Blue]] does the same thing as in season 5. But after she barks, a different version of the closing Blue's Clues book appeared and closed up before the audience even saw [[Blue]] moving away with her ball. Plus, the book closed in a different direction, (unlike the closing Blue's Clues book from season 5), with sparkles coming out from that side. |
||
+ | *Usually, the credits are in a white background with blue letters. However, there are three exceptions. |
||
+ | **In [[Blue's Big Pajama Party]], the credits are in a black, starry background with yellow letters. None of the usual characters appear, instead, there were only-time animations. The moon appears four times saying "Bye!" twice, then "Goodnight!" and then finally "Bye-bye!", and after the credits, [[Blue]] and her ball don't appear at all, [[Blue]] doesn't wink or kick and ball and go until the book closes, instead, it just gets to the back of the book and it just closes, the music clip in the closing credits was reused from [[What Time Is It for Blue?]], except, it's shortened. |
||
+ | ***In [[Blue's Big Musical]], it is the only time the book closes before the credits. The credits are on cardboard in front of red curtains. The letters in different colors the change from page to page, there are no character animations in this credit sequence, except for [[Blue]] saying goodbye from up close as an only-time animation. |
||
+ | ****In [[100th Episode Celebration]], the credits are in a red background with the letters in blue and yellow. After the credits finish, the curtains close, followed by the Nick Jr. Productions logo from 1999-2005. There are no character animations in this credit sequence, not even [[Blue]] at the beginning nor her ball at the very end. |
||
+ | *Season 1 had dark blue letters for both the occupations and the people's names, and in Season 2 onwards, the occupations were in light blue, while the people's names were still in dark blue. |
||
+ | *In the second half of season 3, from [[Blue's Big Mystery]] to [[Café Blue]], Todd Kessler's executive producer credit page would appear at the end of the credits (right before Steven Burns and Janice Burgess's Co-Producer and Vice President of Production, Nick Jr. credits respectively) instead of after Steven Burns's starring credit. It got put back to its original spot in [[Stormy Weather]], [[Magenta Gets Glasses]], and Season 4. |
||
+ | *In [[Words]], [[Environments]], and [[Blue's Collection]], the ampersand between "Nick Balaban" and "Michael Rubin" in the Music and Sound Design page is left out. |
||
+ | *In Season 1 and half of season 2, Janice Burgess was the Executive in Charge of Production. Then in Seasons 2 and 4, she was the Vice President. Her Executive in Charge of Production credit returned in [[Steve Goes to College]] and season 5. |
||
+ | *[[Steve Goes to College]] is the only episode that does not mention Nick Jr. at the end of the credits, and Janice Burgess's credit was just "Executive In Charge of Production". However, it changes to "Executive In Charge of Production, Nick Jr." in season 5. |
||
+ | *When this show aired on Nick Jr. from 2005 to 2008 (and on Nickelodeon in later years), there were split-screen credits that, regardless of what episode was on, would always end with the book closing from [[Our Neighborhood Festival]] followed by the Nick Jr. or Nickelodeon productions logo (depending on when it aired). |
||
+ | *[[Steve]] and [[Joe]] are the only ones that never appear in the end credits. |
||
+ | **However, [[Josh]] did come in the end credits. |
||
+ | *In [[100th Episode Celebration]], [[Art Appreciation]], [[Blue's Big Musical Movie]], [[Geography]], [[Numbers Everywhere!]], UK Versions and [[The Scavenger Hunt]], All character animations are absent, not even [[Blue]]'s upside-down blinking at the beginning and except for [[Blue]] and her ball before the book closes at the very end. |
||
+ | *In late season 3 and some season 6 episodes, a font that is basically the same but with a single-story a is used in the credits. |
||
+ | *In [[Soccer Practice]], Joe's starring credit is excluded. |

Latest revision as of 18:40, 13 April 2024
The text explains that at the end of every episode of Blue's Clues, there is a specific music that plays.
Concept of the characters
Blue appears during the end credits of Season 1, waves goodbye during the end credits of "Created By", stands on her head and blinks during the end credits of "Animators", wags her tail during the end credits of "Animators", and looks over in the upper right angle during the credits page of "Steve's Friends" and at the very end, she was seen chasing her ball before the book closed.
Blue originally only appeared alone in Season 1, but starting in Season 2, Tickety Tock appears and rings during the credits page of "Animators", then Mr.
Starting in Season 3, the characters can randomly appear anywhere in the credits (originally it was the other way around for Blue's first two actions), although her upside down and flashing animation was moved closer to the beginning of the credits, and her farewell barking and waving animation was moved from the middle of the third Season placed at the very end of the credits (with the exception of Shy).
Starting in the middle of the third season, Mailbox, Shovel and Pail were added to the credits, in Blue's Big Mystery, Periwinkle is also added, but only performs a one-time action by sneaking around, Periwinkle was not in the credits again until Blue's predictions with his wand, but the wand was removed at Our Neighborhood Festival.
In Season 4, starting with "The Baby's Here!", all of David B.
In Season 5, the animation of Blue running across the screen is used permanently, having made two previews in Stormy Weather and The Anything Box.
In Season 6, Moona was added to the end credits to correspond with a new section called Blue's Room.
On home video releases between 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 (which included special combined credits for each band broadcast, rather than using the TV credits for each individual episode), only Blue, Tickety Tock, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper were featured in the credits, just like Season 2 and early to mid-Season 3.

Tickety Tock merrily chimes her lovely bells while a nut gracefully descends for an industrious squirrel to eagerly seize and devour. In addition, Blue demonstrates her artistic prowess by skillfully sketching a vibrant bus, which Steve proudly presents to his captivated audience. It is worth noting that the delightful duo, Shovel and Pail, regrettably remained hidden from sight. |
Hide and Seek | Lady Basset singing | The four Blue animations materialize, Tickety Tock energetically stamps her feet, and Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper make their grand entrance as the first mirrored characters. |

And let's not forget about Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper, who made a dazzling return as perfect reflections of each other. |

Trivia
- The closing sequence music for "Snack Time" is the most popular since it was the very first. It was featured in various promos and commercials.
- The closing sequence music for "Blue's Surprise at Two O'Clock" was heard during a promo for Blue's Clues.
- The closing music for "Blue's Collection" features a few parts of the music from the opening sequence and The So Long Song.
- From Season 1 to Late Season 5, the credits flip from page to page.
- From Late Season 5 to Season 6, the credits scroll upwards. In most of the credits, the words all the way to "Line Producer" still flip from page to page. However, in The Scavenger Hunt, Animals in Our House?, and Morning Music, all the words scroll upwards. In The Scavenger Hunt, the first page just immediately starts going up, whereas in Animals in Our House? and Morning Music, it fades before all the words scroll upwards.
- There are differences in the ball, Blue, and the book closing for the Steve version vs. the Joe version. In seasons 1-4, the ball bounces 3 times without rotating. When Blue catches up, she winks at the viewers, and as she throws the ball and ran away, the book closes.
- In the Season 5 version, the ball rotates and Blue blinks twice and then barks, saying "Bye!". Blue opens it in the beginning, but Blue is still in the book when it closes. It's unknown how Blue got out of the book for the next theme song after it closed. However, the book opens by itself in the Steve version.
- In Season 6, the ball and Blue still come in and Blue does the same thing as in season 5. But after she barks, a different version of the closing Blue's Clues book appeared and closed up before the audience even saw Blue moving away with her ball. Plus, the book closed in a different direction, (unlike the closing Blue's Clues book from season 5), with sparkles coming out from that side.

- Usually, the credits are in a white background with blue letters. However, there are three exceptions.
- In Blue's Big Pajama Party, the credits are in a black, starry background with yellow letters. None of the usual characters appear, instead, there were only-time animations. The moon appears four times saying "Bye!" twice, then "Goodnight!" and then finally "Bye-bye!", and after the credits, Blue and her ball don't appear at all, Blue doesn't wink or kick and ball and go until the book closes, instead, it just gets to the back of the book and it just closes, the music clip in the closing credits was reused from What Time Is It for Blue?, except, it's shortened.
- In Blue's Big Musical, it is the only time the book closes before the credits. The credits are on cardboard in front of red curtains. The letters in different colors the change from page to page, there are no character animations in this credit sequence, except for Blue saying goodbye from up close as an only-time animation.
- In 100th Episode Celebration, the credits are in a red background with the letters in blue and yellow. After the credits finish, the curtains close, followed by the Nick Jr. Productions logo from 1999-2005. There are no character animations in this credit sequence, not even Blue at the beginning nor her ball at the very end.
- In Blue's Big Musical, it is the only time the book closes before the credits. The credits are on cardboard in front of red curtains. The letters in different colors the change from page to page, there are no character animations in this credit sequence, except for Blue saying goodbye from up close as an only-time animation.

- Season 1 had dark blue letters for both the occupations and the people's names, and in Season 2 onwards, the occupations were in light blue, while the people's names were still in dark blue.
- In the second half of season 3, from Blue's Big Mystery to Café Blue, Todd Kessler's executive producer credit page would appear at the end of the credits (right before Steven Burns and Janice Burgess's Co-Producer and Vice President of Production, Nick Jr. credits respectively) instead of after Steven Burns's starring credit. It got put back to its original spot in Stormy Weather, Magenta Gets Glasses, and Season 4.
- In Words, Environments, and Blue's Collection, the ampersand between "Nick Balaban" and "Michael Rubin" in the Music and Sound Design page is left out.
- In Season 1 and half of season 2, Janice Burgess was the Executive in Charge of Production. Then in Seasons 2 and 4, she was the Vice President. Her Executive in Charge of Production credit returned in Steve Goes to College and season 5.
- Steve Goes to College is the only episode that does not mention Nick Jr. at the end of the credits, and Janice Burgess's credit was just "Executive In Charge of Production". However, it changes to "Executive In Charge of Production, Nick Jr." in season 5.
- When this show aired on Nick Jr. from 2005 to 2008 (and on Nickelodeon in later years), there were split-screen credits that, regardless of what episode was on, would always end with the book closing from Our Neighborhood Festival followed by the Nick Jr. or Nickelodeon productions logo (depending on when it aired).
- Steve and Joe are the only ones that never appear in the end credits.
- However, Josh did come in the end credits.
- In 100th Episode Celebration, Art Appreciation, Blue's Big Musical Movie, Geography, Numbers Everywhere!, UK Versions and The Scavenger Hunt, All character animations are absent, not even Blue's upside-down blinking at the beginning and except for Blue and her ball before the book closes at the very end.
- In late season 3 and some season 6 episodes, a font that is basically the same but with a single-story a is used in the credits.
- In Soccer Practice, Joe's starring credit is excluded.
